The Art of Mass Gatherings turns festivals around the country into classrooms for community resilience and disaster preparedness, catalyzing cultural shift for how communities can build readiness through music, food & festivals. The hands-on training and planning program brings together event producers, cultural workers, and emergency professionals, the program strengthens safety, sustainability, accessibility, and community engagement at large gatherings. Festivals become strategic spaces to test emergency plans, train a cross-sector workforce, and prepare public venues to better serve both on blue sky days and during times of crisis.

Arts & cultural resilience asset mapping

Our participatory mapping process lets communities identify and leverage their arts, culture, and event-related resources to strengthen resilience in the face of disaster. The process is strategically designed as an engaging series of online and in-person encounters to build alignment and coordination across local arts, culture, and event (ACE) workers with emergency professionals and community stakeholders. The resulting maps highlight key infrastructure, skills, and knowledge that can support emergency response and recovery, as well as support the identification and mitigation of known vulnerabilities.
